That is like a small city at this point.  How can we realize our science fiction fantasy or allegiance to corporations instead of nation states if these companies keep trashing jobs?  Please don’t let the nation of Walmart be the only option!

Wachovia managed to get itself acquired right before a market pull-back it was unlikely to survive.  Now that is what I call good timing.  The key question is will we see one of the major banks fail before this market purge is all said and done?

Citigroup is planning to lay off as many as 200 people in its information technology department in Singapore, the Straits Times reported on Thursday citing sources in the bank.
The paper said Citigroup’s information technology department employs about 2,000 of the 9,000 Citigroup employees in Singapore. (Reuters)
