Ericsson slashes 5,000 jobs, blames Sony partnership

With profits tumbling 31%, Ericsson just announced its intent to shed 5,000 jobs across the globe (1,000 in Stockholm). The loss resulting from a “dramatic drop” in contributions from its Sony Ericsson joint venture. The 5k figure represents about 6% of Ericsson’s 79,000 employees. (Engadget)

Metso To Cut Up To 2,700 Jobs As Demand Falls

Clear Channel expected to layoff 1500

Extensive layoffs are on the way for radio and outdoor advertising giant Clear Channel. The Wall Street Journal’s web site says they expect Clear Channel to layoff about 1500 employees nationwide later in the week. That’s about 7-percent of its workforce. (ABC)
